Comics and books are the two main types of works on which PPO GRAPHIC has built its reputation.

The company was founded in Paris in 1975. Two years later, they began producing comic books, which quickly became their trademark and still are today.

“In 2018, we became part of the Graphius Group, a leading printing group founded in Belgium that has become an international player with customers in Europe, the UK and the USA”, says Stéphane Robert, the General Director of PPO Graphic.

One of their biggest successes was the production of Jean-Marc Jancovici's book, “Le Monde sans fin”, published by Dargaud. This book, much appreciated by readers, became the best-selling book in France in 2022.

“We continue to see a promising future, especially for luxury books and children's books. Although the graphics industry faces immense challenges, we believe there will be opportunities for high-quality products, and therefore opportunities for PPO and the Graphius Group”, says Mr. Stéphane Robert.

CHALLENGE

PPO Graphic has been striving to expand their production capacities and to start manufacturing more diversified books, including thread-sewn books, with softcovers and hardcovers. The comics market is increasingly moving towards graphic novels, which have more pages than classic comics. Their past equipment didn't allow them to produce this new type of product in sufficient quantities, so they joined forces with Meccanotecnica.

SOLUTION

“We're proud of our state-of-the-art equipment, including Heidelberg presses and two advanced bindery lines, Uniplex and Multiplex”, continues Stéphane Robert. “These two gathering and sewing lines have considerably improved our production efficiency.”

RESULTS

“These advanced systems allows us to produce more books in less time and with fewer staff, making our operations both leaner and faster. The automation of many manual processes allows us to streamline production while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship”, says Stéphane Robert. “This efficiency enables us not only to meet tight deadlines, but also to control costs, giving us a competitive edge in the market. We opted for thread sewing because our customers want high-quality, hard-wearing books that will last a long time. This method is perfectly suited to our production needs”.
